Barcelona should have enough to shake off this talented Lyon side.
Barcelona are unbeaten in the Champions League this season; Lyon are unbeaten in the Champions League this season. The sides drew 0-0 in their first-leg at the Groupama Stadium – something has to give.
I’ve been hugely impressed with Lyon in Europe this season. Four points against Manchester City in the group stages shows they’re not to be taken lightly, and although Barcelona had 25 shots in the first-leg, Lyon had a number of significant chances to score themselves – the most notably a Martin Terrier effort which was superbly saved by Marc-André ter Stegen.
At the Camp Nou, however, I just see Barcelona being too strong for Lyon. The clean sheet in the first-leg was Lyon’s first in the competition, and considering Barca average 4.14 goals-per-game at home in La Liga (just mind-blowing), it’s perhaps one step too far for Bruno Génésio’s men. Barca are too savvy in Europe to blow this one.
With this in mind, my best bet is for Barcelona to be winning at half-time and full-time – and this is a 2pt tip.
Lyon have trailed at half-time in seven of their 14 Ligue 1 away games, while Barcelona have lead at the break in eight of their 14 at home in La Liga, which is why this market took my fancy.
